Apply now for scholarship

NEW: “Christoph Rüchardt Scholarship“
Sponsored by enterprises from Baden

In the winter term 2009/10, the Faculty of Engineering through sponsorship from enterprises in Baden, will for the first time award ten scholarships of 1200 Euro each to Master students.

 These scholarships will be funded by the „Faculty of Engineering Foundation“ and managed by the „Association of Friends of the University of Freiburg“.

 

The scholarships will be granted based on performance and shall support students who have already shown an excellent academic potential during their undergraduate studies. Applicants for the scholarship should commence a Master’s program in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Bioinformatics and Systems Biology or Microsystems Engineering in the winter term 2009/10 and have completed their undergraduate studies with a CGPA of 1,5 (German grading system*).

 

The recipients of the scholarships will be chosen by a selection committee of the Faculty of Engineering.

 

Applications should include:

 

-         Motivation letter for the scholarship (approx. 1 page, not identical to the motivation letter for the Master application)

-         Recommendation letter from a university professor (approx. ½ page, free text)

-         Certified copy of your bachelor’s transcript of marks

 

Applications should be sent by e-mail to the program coordinator, Ursula Epe, epe@tf.uni-freiburg.de, by October 31st, 2009.

 

Applicants will be informed of the decision of the selection committee by the end of November.   The scholarship amount will be paid over the course of 12 months in instalments of 100 Euro per month backdated to October 2009.

 

From now on, the Christoph Rüchardt-Scholarship will be granted each year. Students commencing a Master’s program in the summer semester, may apply for the scholarship in the following winter semester.

 

Being the Rector of the University of Freiburg from 1987 until 1991, Prof. Christoph Rüchardt was significantly involved in the foundation of the Faculty of Engineering. Several enterprises from Baden have supported the development of the Faculty by funding the chair of „MEMS Applications“ as well as the newly implemented Christoph Rüchardt-Scholarship fund.

 

 

 

* To convert your final Bachelor’s grade into the German system, we use the following formula: Maximum grade (100 %) minus your final grade, divided by maximum grade minus minimum pass grade. Then multiply the result by 3 and add 1.
