How to find us
The highway leading to Freiburg from Frankfurt or Basel, Switzerland, is callled A5. Take exit "Freiburg Mitte" and drive in the direction of the city centre. Follow the signs to the main train station ("Hauptbahnhof" or "Freiburg Hbf"). The street passing the station is called "Bismarck Allee". Right after you pass the station (on your lefthand side) you come to a big crossroad. Drive straight on and follow this street ("Stefan-Meier-Straße") about 250 m until you see the old building made of sandstone on your righthand side. This is our institute (house number 26). (Number 1 on the map)
Having arrived at Freiburg, leave the main station building by crossing the street and turning left. Then follow the sidewalk along the "Bismarck Allee" until you get to the big crossroad. Go straight on and follow this street ("Stefan-Meier-Straße") about 250 m until you see the old building made of sandstone on your righthand side. This is our institute (house number 26). The airport closest to Freiburg is the Euroairport Basel/Mulhouse. If you have chosen this destination you can easily get to Freiburg by leaving the airport through the French exit (not the Swiss one, important!) and taking the shuttle bus which runs on a regular basis (time schedule) from there directly to the Freiburg train station from which it is only a 10 minute walk to our institute (see section 'by train' for directions from there on). If your destination airport is Frankfurt, you can take a train directly from the airport to Freiburg. Other airports in the area are in Zürich and in Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden.
Some working groups of the institute are located in other buildings:
