Postdoc position in metabolomic NMR
We are taking applications for a postdoc position in metabolic NMR
The Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) at the University of Freiburg invites applications for a postdoctoral candidate. We are looking for an enthusiastic person that combines technical expertise with communication skills to play a leading role in a newly approved ERC Advanced Grant project NMCEL.
The task: As a team leader you will coordinate and scientifically and technically guide the development of a high throughput NMR capability for small organism in vivo metabolite analysis. You will coordinate a team of scientists, and will communicate with the rest of the team in project meetings, and through technical and funding agency documentation. Your own research work will be interdisciplinary, and will include a number of the following aspects: NMR analysis, cleanroom processing, signal processing, small organism handling, computer simulation. You will present your scientific results in project meetings, highly ranked international conferences, and in high impact scientific publications.
Your profile and role: The ideal candidate is a recently graduated PhD level scientist with practical experience and excellent knowledge in nuclear magnetic resonance, and at least one of the following topics: microfluidics technologies; integrated analog signal processing; metabolomics, small organism biology. She/he enjoys providing excellent guidance and support for a team, maintains and creatively develops an assembly of state-of-the art instruments, contributes to practical and theoretical training for students and promotes scientific collaboration within the research group.
The team and its infrastructure: The NMCEL team comprises two postdocs, three to four PhD students, up to three MSc students and an NMR technician. A dedicated 500 MHz Bruker NMR with excellent peripheral infrastructure, an RF lab, 400 m2 class 100 microstructuring cleanroom, and a congenial atmosphere in the research group forms the basis for the project work.
The institute: IMTEK offers an outstanding scientific environment, while Freiburg provides a high standard of living and a superb cultural atmosphere.
Applying: Applications including CV, list of publications and a short summary of past experience, and a motivation for the application, have to be transmitted in PDF form to korvink@imtek.uni-freiburg.de.
