Clinical Neurophysiology Lab

Welcome on the webpage of our Neurophysiology Lab!

This page is intended to give an overview over the types of research we do and the methods we use in our workgroup at the Department for Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy in Freiburg.

We are interested in the study of maintenance factors in anxiety and eating disorders as well as their modification. Anxiety disorders are frequently accompanied by psychophysiological symptoms (sweating, racing heart) which is why we measure those parameters.

Eating Disorders (Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge-eating disorder) are disorders that frequently affect the body image (distorted and/or highly negative body image). A negative body image is a maintenance factor responsible for relapse after therapy and negative long term outcome. In addition, eating disorders are characterized by difficulties in emotion regulation. We use eyetracking, psychophysiology and EEG-measures to gain insight into these processes.

Our lab hat two test rooms and an control room. In both test rooms, psychophysiology can be measured, one has an eyetracker in it.

EEG is measured in an other department.
