General Information regarding PhD degrees

If you hold a good to very good graduate university degree in Computer Science, Microsystems Engineering or a related natural science or engineering science and if you are interested in research then you may be eligible to pursue a PhD degree at the Faculty of Engineering.

Taking a doctorate means that you are responsible for completing a research project. While completing your PhD you will be guided and supervised by a professor who serves as your advisor (Doktorvater or Doktormutter). As a doctoral candidate, you will also receive a contract to work as teaching and research assistants under a Department Chair.

During your doctorate you will learn:

 

  • How to conduct independent research
  • How to prepare and deliver written and oral presentations of your research
  • How to lead a team
  • How to manage a project
  • How to develop a product
  • How to transfer knowledge
